Are those 914 stock wheels on the ghia? They look a little wider than stock, makes a nice stance _________________ 1973 914 2.0 Porsche

NOVA. If you mean the staple cover I am going to make one out of a piece of walnut I have lying around. If you mean the convertible top cover I would be interested in buying it off of you. Thanks.
The rims are the 5 1/2" wide steel ones that I bought at cip1. The original rims were so rusted that they would bend just taking the tires off. I would have looked for a used aluminum set but I like the VW hubcaps. It is a tight fit at the rear wheels and you may have to bend the lip up. the tires are 185/65r15 and the front is lowered about 1 1/2 inches from a set of adjusters that I welded in the beam. |

It was the staple cover. Walnut should look really nice. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

Here it is. It's a decent match for the shift knob.

3rd fuse from right (Right front and rear running light) is blowing every time I turn on the headlights. Anyplace I should check 1st when looking for the short?? Everything else is still working. Could a bad ground cause a fuse to blow? I'm not seeing anything obvious right away. |

A bad ground should not cause a fuse to blow. Likely a short in the positive lead. I would check first at the fuse block to make sure your wires are secure and nothing is touching.
Next try a continuity check from the fuse block to the headlight.
After that make sure all is good with the sockets for the running lights. _________________ Ghia Owner Emeritus |

I think this picture represents the title of this thread nicely.
Tore around the neighborhood today. Curvy dirt roads and such. Lot of fun.

Being a relatively new member here, every once in a while I stumble upon one of these build threads, and binge-read it in a about an hour, in this case following a ton of work from October 2013 to now.
In every case I am astounded at the work and skill that goes into each restoration.
One of the many things I've always wanted to do is learn to weld and metalwork.
That being said, my within-the-last-few-months-purchased '63 bug is in very good shape, with a little decrepitness here and there (nothing dangerous), and I want to learn to weld and do the repairs myself before I am too old to know which way is up.
This thread, as well as others like it, is such an inspiration. Congrats on a job well very well done and thanks for sharing your journey! |

Thanks Scotty. I missed this compliment when you posted it but I sure appreciate it.
Got a little rain at the VW show in Ypsilanti today. It made the drive with ease.
